nature's bridges
Many bridges today are elaborate, technical wonders. But there is something simply beautiful and beautifully simple about these foot bridges designed entirely by Nature. They blend in harmoniously with the rustic grandeur of their surroundings. They are also convenient for hikers and wildlife, while fish can easily swim below them. And as old bridges erode, new ones replenish the supply.
Additionally, they play an important role in preserving the pristine character of this majestic Montana landscape. For instance, you won't see gas-spewing motorboats here because these bridges clearly discourage such traffic.
When I encountered this scene, I imagined that I was viewing it through the eyes of the Old West settlers, circa 1872. Why that year? Probably because the westerns I love watching take place around that period. However, any year you choose would most likely be appropriate. This image depicts a timeless setting - one hardly touched by the impact of "progress" over the last several centuries.
